Property Rights and Personal Freedoms

As a Libertarian candidate for Hancock County Council, I am committed to protecting the property rights and personal freedoms of Hancock County residents. Our platform is guided by the following key principles:
Respecting Property Rights
  • Property rights are foundational and should be respected by our county government.
  • Government intervention should only occur to prevent clear, measurable harm, not to restrict harmless personal use of property.
Limiting Regulatory Overreach
  • Zoning regulations should be transparent, narrowly tailored, and not overly restrictive.
  • Residents, not bureaucrats, should have a say in how their land and homes are used.
Protecting Personal Freedoms
  • We oppose laws that effectively criminalize poverty or personal choice, such as bans on camping or sleeping on public property.
  • We will work to ensure that ordinances governing personal freedoms, such as backyard chickens, are reasonable and respectful of property owners' rights.
Promoting Transparency and Community Input
  • We will require direct voter input on new district controls and regulatory zones to ensure that they align with community needs and values.
  • We will work to prevent overbroad ordinances that arbitrarily limit freedoms without strong evidence of actual harm.

Streamlining the County Budget
  • Eliminate waste and inefficiencies in the county budget to focus on core protective functions.
  • Reduce bureaucratic layers and non-critical programs to minimize unnecessary spending.
Ensuring Transparency and Accountability
  • Tighten oversight of capital projects to prevent cost overruns and ensure transparent cost-benefit analysis.
  • Require direct resident input on expansions of utilities or infrastructure to ensure that projects align with community needs.
Prioritizing Public Safety and Infrastructure
  • Adequately fund critical public safety services, including law enforcement and emergency response.
  • Maintain and improve infrastructure that protects citizens' rights and property.
Responsible Fiscal Management
  • Resist speculative or poorly justified spending that burdens residents without clear, measurable benefit.

As a Libertarian candidate for Hancock County Council, I am committed to a development and zoning platform that prioritizes property rights, transparency, and limited government intervention. Our platform is guided by the following key principles:

Protecting Property Rights

  • Property owners in Hancock County should be free to use and develop their land as long as they do not cause measurable harm to neighboring properties.
  • We will work to prevent eminent domain abuse and ensure that property rights are respected.

Simplifying Zoning Regulations

  • Zoning regulations should be simplified and reformed to allow for mixed-use, by-right development.
  • We will eliminate arbitrary density caps, minimum lot sizes, and parking mandates that artificially raise housing costs.

Promoting Transparency and Accountability

  • All zoning and development decisions will be transparent, rule-based, and made as locally as possible.
  • We will ensure that new development pays for its own infrastructure and services, protecting existing residents from increased taxes and debt.

Fostering Economic Development

  • Economic development should occur without tax abatements, TIF districts, or government favoritism, allowing businesses to compete on a level playing field.
  • We will support farmers and rural landowners by retaining their freedom to farm and operate without excessive regulation.

Additionally, Outside Sales requires me to be comfortable in any environment and find common ground with customers and coworkers to work towards a preferred outcome. My time in Retail Sales required me to be an expert for both customers and team members and discover ways to make different products and services relatable based on the conversation I was having with the customer."

"My experiences in Sales and Management, along with my passion for advancing liberty and promoting personal responsibility, provided me with the skills I needed to make a difference in my community. I have worked on the Board of Directors of a 501-C3 Animal Rescue, as a Chief Steward for CWA Local 4900 representing over 250 retail employees in the State of Indiana, on a planning board for a Church Men's Retreat, and currently work as both an Executive Committee member for the Libertarian Party of Hancock County, and a member of the Libertarian Party of Indiana's State Central Committee. These have been both the most challenging and most rewarding professional experiences of my life. I have learned to coordinate staffing for events, keep a schedule of events, meetings, and due dates for filings, and collaborate with others on the various boards and committees to utilize the different strengths of members in order to increase effectiveness."
